THE BIG IDEA

Every image begins

with a vision.

Photography is a way of noticing. Light across a room, th e rhythm of a street, the detail of an everyday object: each can become the beginning of a visual story . A thoughtful image starts with a choice about what to show and how to show it. Creative editing and AI add more ways to explore that vision. Y ou can refine a photograph you have taken, experiment with a new treatment, or develop an imagined scene from a written idea. These are related creative practices, but they are not t he same thing. Our direction brings photography , image-making, and hands-on learning together . The goal is to build your eye as well as your tool skills, so that the choices beh ind an image remain yours.

The tool can expand the possibilities. Your vision gives

the

image its purpose.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE BEGINS WITH A SMALL SHIFT .

THREE W A YS IN

A foundation

you can build on

01

Capture

W ork with real light, subjects, and moments. Explore composition, timing, perspective, and exposure. A camera or a phone can both become a starting point for intentional image-making. T ry this: Photograph one ordinary object from three diff erent viewpoints.

02

Edit

Refine an existing photograph through crop, color , tone, and selective adjustments. AI-assisted tools can help with some tasks; review the result carefully so the image still communicates what you intend. T ry this: Make two edits of the same photograph and compare their moods.

03

Imagine

Use generative AI to develop a visual from an idea, description, or suitable reference. Shape the subject, setting, light, and mood, then revise. An imagined image is created, rather than captured at a real event . T ry this: Describe a scene that would be i mpossible to photograph.
IMAGINE WHA T YOU COULD MAKE

A simple object becomes an editorial image. A written idea beco

PUT IT INT O PRACTICE

From an idea

to an intentional image

1 W rite a simple brief Describe the feeling, subject, and purpose. Decide whether th e result should document something real or communicate an imagined concept. 2 Choose your starti ng point Capture a photograph, select an image you can use , or begin a generated concept. Keep an untouched copy of any original photograph. 3 Shape and review Adjust one feature at a time. Check edges, han ds, lighting, reflections, and small details. Compare the result with the intention in your brief. 4 Present with context Choose a useful size and format for the destination. Wh en an image is generated or substantially altered, make that clear wherever a viewer might otherwise mistake it for documentary photography .
AN EXAMPLE TO MAKE IT REAL Imagine a photograph b ecoming the beginning of a whole visual world: a polish ed editorial image, an imagined setting, a magazine cover , and a short lesson showing your creative choices. Photography , editing, and generative tools c an work together while each keeps a distinct role.
